The national telecommunication service provider of the country, Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), took another giant leap in expanding its encouragement for the betterment of Sri Lankan sports in honouring athletes who demonstrated exceptional talent, determination and dedication for the fifth consecutive year with SLT Silk Sports Awards 2019. The SLT Silk Sports Awards ceremony recognized and tributed sportsmen and women on the achievements they have accomplished in year 2019 on many categories.

SLT recently donated Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Ministry of Defense and the Army hospital, Narahenpita.

SLT conducted these donations having an aim to contribute towards the combat of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. PPE kits are most important in preventing transmission of COVID – 19 virus especially in treatment centers.

SLT Customer Club - Kandy together with the staff of SLT Regional Office Kandy, donated 75 numbers of Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) with high standard quality, for the staff of Sirimavo Bandaranayake children’s hospital- Peradiniya. This donation was conducted through the Doctors Welfare Association (doctors’ network for charity and welfare).

These PPE kits are most important in preventing transmission of COVID – 19 virus especially in treatment centers in hospitals.

National telecommunication services provider Sri Lanka Telecom & Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel in partnership with Derana, conducting ‘SLT Digital Aurudu’ to celebrate this year’s New Year festival.

SLT Customer Club Gampaha together with staff of SLT Regional Office Gampaha, distributed essential food items for some families in Gampaha Divisional Secretariat.

Especially these families were not able to get provided their daily needs due to the nationwide curfew to combat the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic.

Sri Lanka Telecom conducted a CSR programme for self-quarantined prisoners, during COVID-19 virus pandemic.

To prevent transmitting Corona virus within the prisoners, the Government and the Department of Prisons have been taken steps to get self-quarantined all the prisoners with their fullest support.

Mr. Bandara Herath, a Senior Assistant Engineer of Sri Lanka Telecom has invented a portable ventilator which can be used for patients in ICUs.

This equipment is already handed over to Kandy teaching hospital. It was accepted by the doctors and he has received a request for two more ventilators with few improvements.

Sri Lanka Telecom PLC Group released its financial results for the three months ended 31^st March 2020.

The Total revenue for the quarter recorded Rs.22.1 Bn, which is 3.8% growth compared to the same period in 2019, Rs.21.3 Bn.
