SLT to power Lanka Government Network (LGN 2.0)

In a collaborative move by the national government and the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), Sri Lanka Telecom was chosen as the total communication service provider and communication infrastructure provider to the Lanka Government Network. The LGN is a strategic project produced and designed in order to unify and upgrade government establishments by use of a single network.

SLT improves location based public Wi-Fi Hotspot services.

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has improved its post-paid and pre-paid Wi-Fi services by continuously expanding its hotspots coverage in important locations with Wi-Fi Hotspots broadcasting SSID: ‘SLT broadband’. The company introduced a range of pre-paid options to improve user convenience. Recently, the latest addition of carrier-grade Wi-Fi hotspots to its network went live at the University of Peradeniya.

SLT launches new calendar themed, “Traditional Rice” to promote awareness of an important part of our nation’s heritage.

Since 800 B.C Sri Lanka has been home to the cultivation of rice, evidence of this lies in the archeological discovery of large irrigation structures dating all the way back to 390 B.C. Throughout the period of the monarchy, Sri Lanka boasted the existence of over 2000 indigenous varieties of rice, thus earning the fitting title, ‘The Granary of the East’.

SLT partnered SEA-ME-WE 5 Submarine Cable System wins at the Global Carrier Awards

The consortium that developed the South East Asia, Middle East and Western Europe 5 (SEA-ME-WE 5) submarine cable was awarded the “Project of the Year – Subsea Award” at the Global Carrier Awards on 8 November 2016, in Paris. Sri Lanka Telecom, the country’s leading ICT Solutions Provider is a proud member of this consortium and has played a vital role in the creation of this submarine cable.

SLT together with SLASSCOM presents Cloud based “Microservices Architecture”.

Sri Lanka Telecom together with SLASSCOM recently presented one of the globally emerging topic of Cloud based “Microservices Architecture” through a knowledge sharing program themed, “TechTalk”. The program was successfully held at the Trace Expert City, Maradana with the participation of large number of software/application developers and coding experts in Sri Lanka.
