SLT launches new calendar themed, “Traditional Rice” to promote awareness of an important part of our nation’s heritage.

Since 800 B.C Sri Lanka has been home to the cultivation of rice, evidence of this lies in the archeological discovery of large irrigation structures dating all the way back to 390 B.C. Throughout the period of the monarchy, Sri Lanka boasted the existence of over 2000 indigenous varieties of rice, thus earning the fitting title, ‘The Granary of the East’.

SLT partnered SEA-ME-WE 5 Submarine Cable System wins at the Global Carrier Awards

The consortium that developed the South East Asia, Middle East and Western Europe 5 (SEA-ME-WE 5) submarine cable was awarded the “Project of the Year – Subsea Award” at the Global Carrier Awards on 8 November 2016, in Paris. Sri Lanka Telecom, the country’s leading ICT Solutions Provider is a proud member of this consortium and has played a vital role in the creation of this submarine cable.

SLT together with SLASSCOM presents Cloud based “Microservices Architecture”.

Sri Lanka Telecom together with SLASSCOM recently presented one of the globally emerging topic of Cloud based “Microservices Architecture” through a knowledge sharing program themed, “TechTalk”. The program was successfully held at the Trace Expert City, Maradana with the participation of large number of software/application developers and coding experts in Sri Lanka.

SLT gets the go to construct Tier 3 internet data center in Pitipana.

As Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) was aiming towards instigating the construction of a new state-of-the-art Internet Data Center that would enhance the provision of a secure and reliable data hosting facility to Sri Lanka, the Uptime Institute had recently awarded SLT with the design certification required to carry through the initiative. Having received the go-ahead from global data centre regulating body, SLT is set to construct a large scale state of the art and energy efficient Data Center with world renowned Uptime Tier 3 Certification.

Sri Lanka Telecom PLC (SLT) and SEA-ME-WE 5 Consortium proudly announce the completion of the 20,000- kilometre subsea cable infrastructure developed by a 16-nation consortium. This submarine cable system won the Project of the Year – Subsea award at the Global Carrier Awards in Paris in November 2016 for its technological and managerial excellence.

SLT Group Records Healthy Growth in Profits during 2016.

Sri Lanka Telecom PLC released its Group and Holding Company Financial Results for the year ending 2016, which revealed a healthy revenue growth by 8.5% and profits up by 28.6% compared to 2015. The Group comprises of the holding Company and eight subsidiaries including Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd, the mobile arm.

The Group recorded a net profit of Rs.4.8 billion with a marked increase of 28.6% year on year. This growth was driven by an increase in revenue of both Fixed ICT and Mobile segments reaching a total of Rs 73.8 Billion.

SLT Completes Successful “Free GB Offer” - Buy 1 get 1 Free Campaign.

As a means of catering to growing and encouraging extra GB usage, while rewarding customer loyalty, Sri Lanka Telecom launched the “Free GB Offer”, a buy one get one free campaign, which was held between the 13th – 19th of March.

The campaign offered SLT Broadband customers the chance of getting an equal amount of free GB for each extra GB top-up they purchased.
