SLT Announces the Launch of the 2nd Annual “SLT Speedup Cycle Sawariya”

The year 2016 saw the launch of the “SLT Speed Up Cycle Sawariya” – the country’s longest cross-country cycle race, by Sri Lanka Telecom. The launch was announced on the 21st of July 2016 and immediately took the country by storm, as such a venture had never been attempted before in the history of the sport of Cycling in Sri Lanka. The men’s race began on the 27th of July in Colombo and concluded on the 31st of that same month in Batticaloa. The women’s race also began on the same day in Colombo but concluded that very day in Ambalangoda.

SLT successfully completes first ever Colour Night Vision surveillance system in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Telecom PLC (SLT) successfully connected its first ever colour night vision (CNV) surveillance system in Sri Lanka, which uses advanced IP surveillance cameras. This project initiated and funded by the Chief Ministry of the North Central Provincial Council. This is also the second largest system installed by SLT thus far, with more than 100 advanced IP surveillance cameras spanning the important areas of Anuradhapura, Habarana and Polonnaruwa. The colour night vision surveillance camera system is capable of capturing coloured visuals during the day and night.

SLT “SpeedUp Cycle Sawariya” Flags Off

SLT SpeedUp Cycle Sawariya ceremonially commenced at the Galle Face Green on Tuesday 25th July. Group Chairman of SLT Kumarasinghe Sirisena, Group CEO of SLT Dileepa Wijesundera, Group CMO Ajantha Seneviratne and the President of the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL), Dr. Amal Harsha De Silva were also present at the event along with a number of distinguished members of SLT’s senior management, the CFSL and Sri Lanka Police.

“SLT SpeedUp Cycle Sawariya” Day 2 marks the finish line to Trincomalee

The Day 2 - SLT SpeedUp Cycle Sawariya started from Puttalam to Vavunia and Vavunia to Trincomalee in two legs on 26th July. Third day race will start from Trincomalee to Dambulla. This longest cycle race in Sri Lanka started in Colombo and travel through Puttalam, Vavunia, Trincomalee, Dambulla, Badulla up to Embilipitiya marking the finish on 29th July.

“SLT SpeedUp Cycle Sawariya” Day 3 marks the finish line to Dambulla.

The Day 3 - SLT SpeedUp Cycle Sawariya started Trincomalee to Dambulla on 27th July morning. Forth day race will start from Dambulla to Badulla. This longest cycle race in Sri Lanka started in Colombo and travel through Puttalam, Vavunia, Trincomalee, Dambulla, Badulla up to Embilipitiya marking the finish on 29th July. The women’s race will commence on 29th July journey starting from Ratnapura and ending in Embilipitiya.

“SLT SpeedUp Cycle Sawariya” Day 4 marks the finish line to Badulla.

The Day 4 - SLT SpeedUp Cycle Sawariya started Dambulla to Badulla on 28th July morning. Fifth day race will start from Badulla to Embilipitiya. This longest cycle race in Sri Lanka started in Colombo and travel through Puttalam, Vavunia, Trincomalee, Dambulla, Badulla up to Embilipitiya marking the finish on 29th July. The women’s race will commence on 29th July journey starting from Ratnapura and ending in Embilipitiya.

SLT together with University of Moratuwa & IESL presents Sri Lanka’s first dedicated IoT competition “SLIOT Challenge”
