The SLT Group reported a strong start to 2026, delivering double-digit revenue growth and significantly higher profitability in the first quarter compared to Q1 2025. This performance was driven by sustained demand for broadband services and strong gains in operating profit and net earnings, marking the highest operating profit and net earnings in the Group’s history. Speaking at a recent media conference, SLT-MOBITEL announced that all group companies delivered broad-based growth, contributing to the Group’s best-ever quarterly performance. The results reflect strong execution, operational excellence, and continued customer trust, signaling a decisive turnaround with sustained momentum for the year ahead. The media conference was attended by Chairman Dr. Mothilal de Silva, CEO M. Riyaaz Rasheed, Chief Operating Officer Imantha Wijekoon, and Chief Financial Officer Sanjeewa Samaranayake. They highlighted the Group’s exceptional first-quarter performance and outlined its continued focus on driving Sri Lanka’s digital transformation through strategic investment and innovation. According to financial results released to the CSE, the Group’s consolidated revenue rose to LKR 30.8 billion, reflecting a 10.6% increase from LKR 27.9 billion in Q1 2025. Gross profit grew to LKR 14.6 billion, up by 14.1% year-on-year, supported by increased broadband demand. Operating profit climbed to LKR 5.1 billion, a 39.1% improvement compared to the previous year. Profit before tax reached LKR 4.2 billion, while profit after tax increased to LKR 3.1 billion, reflecting a 53.3% rise. At the company level, SLT PLC also recorded strong growth. Revenue increased to LKR 19.7 billion, supported by a 10.6% rise year-on-year. Gross profit reached LKR 9.9 billion, while operating profit improved to LKR 3.5 billion. Profit before tax rose to LKR 2.9 billion, with profit after tax reaching LKR 2.1 billion for the quarter. Mobitel posted a 9.9% increase in revenue during Q1 2026, driven by a 28% rise in broadband revenue alongside growth in value-added services, solutions, and roaming. Subscriber momentum remained positive, reflecting the success of customer acquisition and retention strategies. SLT-MOBITEL also marked a significant milestone by making its 5G network publicly accessible, enabling wider access to next-generation connectivity. This achievement is supported by ongoing investments in network expansion, fibre infrastructure, and wireless coverage, reinforcing the company’s commitment to strengthening Sri Lanka’s digital foundation.
