SLT “Sisu Dham Sariya” live telecast from Anuradhapura Central College to commemorate Poson in the true spirit of the season.

SLT Sisu Dham Sariya, a special Dharmadeshanawa was organized by Sri Lanka Telecom in collaboration with Rupavahini Corporation for school students on Monday, 1st June 2015 from 08.30am to 10.00am. Dharmadeshanawa (Dhamma Talks) was delivered by Professor Venerable Agalakada Sirisumana Nayaka Thero of the Sinhala Department of the University of Colombo. The Dharmadeshanawa was telecasted live on Rupavahini and City FM (89.6 and 89.8), enabling the entire country to be benefitted by the programme where approximately 2.5 million students island-wide were able to listen to it via TV and radio. Approximately 3500 students from the Anuradhapura area attended the Dharmadeshanawa which was held at Anuradhapura Central College premises. Students from schools island wide had the opportunity to raise their questions live during the Dharmadeshanawa.

This programme was conducted by SLT with the support of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Mass Media and Parliamentary Affairs. All students from across the island were encouraged to participate in the Dharmadeshanawa via Rupavahini or City FM since the company believes that it helps to impart important insights to students on the relevance of Poson and how the teachings of Lord Buddha can be put into practice in today’s day and age. The vision of the company through programmes such as these is to instil in the younger generations the culture and traditions associated with Buddhism to ensure that not only are they aware of these religious and cultural beliefs but are also able to practice them in their day to day lives in the true spirit of Buddhism.
